Screen printing, also known as silk screening, is a printing technique that involves using a mesh stencil to transfer ink onto a surface. The stencil, or screen, is made of a fine mesh material, usually nylon or polyester, that has been coated with a light-sensitive emulsion. A design is then cut out of the emulsion using a photographic process, leaving open areas where ink can pass through the mesh and onto the material below.

The screen is placed over the material to be printed on, and ink is poured onto the top of the screen. A squeegee is then used to pull the ink across the screen, forcing it through the open areas and onto the material. The ink is then dried or cured using heat, which sets it onto the surface.

Screen printing is a versatile printing method that can be used on a variety of materials, including paper, fabric, and plastic. It is commonly used to create T-shirts, posters, signs, and other promotional items.
